Interview with Howard Lee
When and how did you discover “Light of Life” and its healing potential?
I have possessed this energy all of my life. I have been using it in my healing practice, working with people for over 25 years. However, there was no name for it nor did I realize what it was other than that I had the ability. From the time my mind became quiet at 19, I have been intuiting and realizing many things, disciplining myself and recalling knowledges. I have never studied any kind of energetic modality with anyone or met anyone who did energetic healing the way I was doing it. About 8 or 9 years ago, through a series of deep meditations, I remembered the process of enabling others to access this energy and well as many other things concerning the handling of energy. And I realized that the Light of Life was a whole body of knowledge of an energetic nature.
When I began to offer workshops, people began asking what this energy was called. Someone, I have now forgotten who it was, intuited “the Light of Life.” We needed to call it something, so we have a name. I certainly wasn’t going to name it after myself.
In your opinion, what is the Energy that is used in the Light of Life? Does it come from the creation of the universe, like the sources that created the Big Bang? Or does it come from your personal power?
My understanding is that this energy conveys a source of knowledge from the highest realms of our multidimensional reality. It is knowledge encoded in light. People are now more familiar with the nature of energy and light, for instance we have in everyday reality the transmission of communications through fiber-optic technology. Communications are now encoded in light, whereas before, they were encoded electronically. This is something I have been explaining to people for years, before the actual advent of current technology. I am simply privileged to be the conduit of this source of knowledge and power.
When I speak of knowledge, I am actually referring to a way of knowing. Oftentimes, people who have access to the Light seem to have an ability to know things in a holistic way, which is then translated into the everyday reality through the rational faculties and vocabularies. Knowledge is transmitted and accessed this way from the intuitive to the known. Again this is not unlike media transmission whether electronic or fiber optic. At the end point the energetic frequencies are translated back into the known, for human sensory processing.
Enlightenment is not something gained through mental musings or gymnastics. The process of enlightenment is really about immersing ourselves in the light of knowledge.
If the Energy is everywhere, why can only initiated people work with it?
You need to know how to tune into this energy that is all around you. It is not unlike the television broadcasts in your city. You have to have a tuner to tune in the program, otherwise it does not exist for you.
We exist in a co-creative reality, meaning that certain individuals are endowed with or develop certain abilities and knowledge that is utilized and expanded upon through time. This is an incremental and cumulative reality.
Freewill and diversity are important aspects of this reality, so people have the freedom to make certain choices. No matter how good something is, it should not be imposed on any individual. So, for example, the access to this Energy, to have this benevolent knowledge to bring into one’s own life, is something that must be accepted on each individual’s own accord.
If someone does the workshop what happens to him or her? Do they become able to initiate other people? Or is it just a source that benefits people’s health?
Each person’s experience depends on their own unique response and the stage of development they have attained at that particular point in their life. For some the Induction of Energy is very dramatic, literally changing their life overnight. Others may experience more moderate or subtle changes over time and with practice of the Induction of Energy. I have not yet taught anyone else how to induct others into the Energy.
What is the duration of the workshop? Once you have been initiated what else do you have to do? Is it forever?
The workshop is one day. The actual Induction process requires only about half an hour or so. People just sit and relax and we have a conversation with energy in silence. After the Induction, people will be able to access this energy for the rest of their life. They have possession of a knowledge that will enhance their life and improve their relationships with others. Immersing in the energy daily requires very little time and effort. no more than minutes a day. It is like turning a light on by flipping the switch. There is no laborious exercise or meditation technique involved. Oftentimes people who have complained that they are not able to meditate or quiet the internal chatter are able to go into a blissful, meditative state once they are able to access the energy. After the Induction, many people already have more healing power than practicing professionals.
There are no repeat classes; this is a definitive and permanent procedure. No memberships, dues, or allegiance to any organization are required.
How, practically, happens the healing process? Do you heal people with your hands and touches?
The healing is done energetically on a different plane beyond the physical. For this reason, I do not need to make any physical contact whatsoever. In fact, I rarely touch people, except on occasion when certain muscular injuries or knots are very tenacious. I help release these knots more quickly with a little bit of manipulation rather than waiting for the energy alone to dissolve the tension. In most cases, I do not have any physical contact with a person in a healing session. I can actually accomplish what I need to do from another room. In fact, I generally spend a little time in the room with an individual and then leave the room while the work continues.
This is an energy that benefits people whether they have any illness or not. It brings forth alignment of the multidimensional aspects of the human being.
I want to emphasize that this energetic process is not simply for healing. It is a complete body of knowledge grounded in truth and simplicity. It is transformative, the most powerful transformative tool you can possess. In order for a healing to be of a permanent nature, there must be transformation.
This energy also helps people access, expand, and express their creativity more fully, so that according to their predilection, they will be able to intuit and bring forth knowledge and understanding beyond the intellectual process. Rational thinking helps us to construct the world, but it is the intuition that brings forth new knowledge to add on to the rational knowledge base. You might say that it enables a person to access the wisdom to conduct their life more harmoniously and have the clarity to choose the path that is most pertinent to their current sojourn on this earth.
Carlos Castaneda is a great fan of yours. When did you first meet and how was the experience?
I first met Carlos in 1974. He had a serious health problem and I helped him regain his health. The meeting wasn’t particularly extraordinary. He was a nice, pleasant fellow at the time, and shortly after we met he began studying with me. Since I had never been interested in exploring people’s private business, I did not know his background. In fact it was only fourteen years later, after the publication of The Fire from Within, where he acknowledged me in his dedication, that I realized that he was Castaneda. I subsequently read the books and was quite impressed with them.
Besides him, do you have other famous fans and disciples?
I don’t have any disciples. There are friends and people with whom I have shared this knowledge through the workshops, but I don’t consider them disciples. Although I do have considerable knowledge about energetics and other things, my approach to life is that we need to share our knowledge and live harmoniously, and I never care to mind other people’s business or tell them how to run their life. The old paradigm of the master-disciple relationship never held any appeal to me and I see it as no longer appropriate for this day and age. For that reason also I do not want to drop names (except for Castaneda, who publicly revealed his association with me himself). I am happy for the success and accomplishments of others but respecting their privacy is of utmost importance to me.
What is the difference between “Light of Life” and other energization methods, like “Reiki” or “Magnified Healing"?
The difference is difficult to qualify or quantify, since I am not familiar with these other modalities. In any case it would not be appropriate for me to comment about them. There are hundreds of energetic practices, or styles of practicing energy work, in various countries around the world, including the Americas. They all have their own stories and backgrounds and approaches. I can only say that the Light of Life energy is transformative and transcendent, allowing the individual to access a great body of knowledge from beyond this realm to enrich their life. My motto has always been, “when we are ready we will meet."
Do you have any expectation for this workshop in Brazil?
Truly, I never expect anything. I let spirit manifest for me what is meant to be. And I know I will enjoy my stay in your wonderful country.
Why did you choose Brazil? Do you think Brazilian people make a good audience for your work?
Again, I did not really choose Brazil so much as it chose me, in a way. Simply, I go wherever I’m invited and where there is interest. I am very grateful and appreciative that Patricia Aguirre and Mirna Grzich and Nilo de Almeida have taken on the responsibility of sponsoring my visit, doing the hard work and attending to the logistics necessary to enable me to bring this knowledge to share with people in your country. When we are ready we will meet. I have no doubt that Brazilians will make a good audience, since there seems to be such diversity and aliveness in this country.
What other countries have you been doing your Workshops?
I have only started traveling since 1999. I’ve been to Italy, Argentina, Spain, and England, as well as other places in the United States.
